The weekly satsang with Mohanji is always a unique experience. It brings clarity to many spiritual, emotional, and internal confusions that people face in their lives. This Sunday, Mohanji gave a profound analysis of the matrix—both external and internal—that influences every individual in different ways. His central message was clear: experience every situation of daily life fully, but do not succumb to it with obsession or attachment. At the very outset, Mohanji reminded everyone of a vital truth: life will bring us countless experiences, but the key is to live them fully without succumbing to obsession or attachment. These words set the tone for a deeply transformative dialogue.
A Living Example Amidst Disruptions
As the satsang progressed, nature presented its own lesson. Heavy rains flooded the house where Mohanji was sitting, and the power supply in the area was affected. Yet, without the slightest pause or disruption, the session continued seamlessly. This in itself became a living demonstration of what Mohanji was teaching—external disturbances may arise at any time, but they need not shake the core of our being.

The External Matrix – Beyond Our Control
Mohanji explained that the external matrix is composed of factors and events over which we have little to no control. Life presents a stream of circumstances—loss, change, success, setbacks, joy, and pain. These arrive and depart in cycles, like waves of the ocean. What matters most is how we respond to them.
To illustrate, Mohanji drew from his own life experiences. In the early 2000s, he went through a harrowing period marked by the untimely loss of his precious daughter, family crises, and the loss of material possessions. These events could have easily shattered his spirit and anchored him permanently in grief. If he had allowed those experiences to dictate the rest of his life, he could have been trapped in a “loss mode,” unable to emerge from the darkness.
However, Mohanji chose an alternative path. He accepted these external realities with detachment and continued walking forward. This approach did not mean he denied the pain or ignored the experiences. Rather, it meant that he refused to let them bind him. By doing so, he transformed even the most difficult chapters of his life into stepping-stones toward inner strength and clarity.
His message was simple yet profound: every external event—whether the loss of loved ones, health challenges, the loss of income, or setbacks in personal relationships—must be seen as part of the onward journey. Experiences will arise, but they should never stop us. By moving forward despite the weight of these events, we allow new possibilities and fresh beginnings to emerge.
This is the essence of the external matrix: it is beyond our control, but it need not enslave us.

The Internal Matrix – Our Sphere of Control
If the external matrix is what happens outside us, the internal matrix is what happens within us. Mohanji emphasised that while we may not control external events, we have absolute control over how we process and respond to them internally.
This is where personal responsibility and awareness come into play. No one else can enter or influence our internal space unless we allow them to. It is our sacred ground. The way we handle our inner world defines the quality of our life far more than the circumstances we face.
However, Mohanji also pointed out that internal responses are deeply individual. Two people may go through the same external situation, yet their inner journeys may be entirely different. What works as a coping mechanism or healing method for one may not work for another. Therefore, each person must rely on their own wisdom, conviction, and inner strength to navigate the internal matrix.
The key, once again, is detachment. Engaging with our inner world should not mean getting consumed by emotions, memories, or mental patterns. Instead, it should be about observing, understanding, and handling them with balance. By doing so, we create space within ourselves for peace, resilience, and deeper spiritual awareness.
Walking the Path Ahead
Mohanji’s discourse reminded everyone that life is not about escaping difficulties or expecting a smooth path. Rather, it is about meeting life in its entirety—both external and internal—with awareness and detachment. External circumstances will come and go; internal responses will shape our destiny.
The message is empowering because it shifts the focus from helplessness to responsibility. While we cannot command the storms of life to stop, we can choose how we steer our ship. And in doing so, we discover that even the most turbulent seas can carry us toward new horizons.
Conclusion
The reflection from this week’s satsang can be summarised in one sentence: Live life fully, experience everything, but never be enslaved by it. External matrices are beyond our control, yet they are not meant to imprison us. Internal matrices are within our control, and they demand wisdom, awareness, and detachment. Together, these understandings form a guiding light for any seeker.
As Mohanji’s own life has shown, detachment is not about indifference—it is about strength. It is the strength to walk forward despite the losses, to rise despite the falls, and to live despite the storms. When we align with this truth, life itself becomes an empowering journey, no matter what comes our way.
Thank you, Mohanji.
